Randy L. Smith, P.E., P.S., Trumbull County Engineer

Randy has been serving as the Trumbull County Engineer since 2011.  Mr. Smith graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree.  He also received his Bachelor of Science degree in Surveying and Mapping from the University of Akron.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and a licensed Professional Surveyor in the State of Ohio. 

Prior to becoming the Trumbull County Engineer, Randy spent 16 years working in various positions at the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office, 10 years of which he spent as the Deputy Engineer.  He also served as a Hartford Township Trustee for 17 years and previously worked as the Public Service Director for the City of Euclid. 

Responsibilities of the County Engineer's Office

The Trumbull County Engineer’s Office, in accordance with Chapter 5543 of the Ohio Revised Code, is responsible for the maintenance of Trumbull County’s roads, which consists of 462 miles of roadway within 625 square miles.  The County Engineer is also responsible for the maintenance and replacement of 378 bridges and 1,601 culverts of various sizes located throughout the county.  Among our many duties, we perform roadside mowing, ditching, snow plowing, drainage and road maintenance.  We are also proud to work closely with the twenty-four (24) townships, five (5) cities, and six (6) villages that make up Trumbull County.
